The 2008 R.D. cuvée from Bollinger is a champagne of rare depth and power, from an exceptional vintage. Disgorged in 2022, this cuvée reveals a dazzling freshness combined with exceptional aromatic complexity.
The R.D. 2008 cuvée is made from a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay, sourced from 18 crus, 84% of which are Grands Crus and 16% Premiers Crus. The uniqueness of this cuvée lies in the exclusive use of wines fermented in 228- and 400-liter oak barrels, some of which are up to 40 years old. This oak aging gives the wine a beautiful structure and great complexity.
The 2008 vintage is one of the most sought-after in Champagne. The year was considered exceptional because the grapes offered both great maturity and remarkable acidity. It is not so common to find both of these qualities necessary for making champagne. The 2008 vintage was expressive and aromatic from the outset. This cuvée was disgorged in October 2022 and matured on its lees for 14 years. It has a very low dosage of just 3 g/l to preserve its purity and freshness.
The R.D. 2008 has an intense golden yellow color with bright highlights and fine bubbles, a sign of long aging on lees.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals complex aromas of white fruits such as pear and apple, accompanied by notesof orange peel, toast and subtle hints of macadamia nuts and sherry.
On the palate, the attack is full and lively, with a fine, delicate effervescence. The flavors of ripe fruit blend perfectly with notes of chalk and delicate spices. The finish is long and taut, offering a remarkable sensation of freshness.
The price of a bottle of Bollinger R.D. 2008 is 349,95 €. This price reflects the rarity of this vintage and its long aging process.
Connoisseurs praise the power and depth of this R.D. 2008 vintage, finding it perfect for accompanying gourmet meals or for enjoying on its own. They also highlight the elegance of its ripe fruit aromas and creamy texture. Discover more reviews here: Reviews of the R.D. 2008 Bollinger vintage.
