      Description

Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises is absolutely unique, made from vines that miraculously survived the phylloxera epidemic which destroyed the vineyards of Champagne at the beginning of the 20th century.

They were all replanted with grafted plants from American root stock capable of resisting this ravaging insect. All, that is, except for three parcels belonging to Bollinger : Les Chaudes Terre and the Clos St Jacques, at Aÿ, and Croix Rouge at Bouzy.

Les Vieilles Vignes Françaises is crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir, and only the greatest of years are declared as vintage champagnes.

In this 2004 vintage, Les Vieilles Vignes Françaises offers a deep gold colour and an effervescence of incredible finesse.

Its aromas are powerful and concentrated with profound notes of beeswax, cognac and spice, mirrored also on the palate with its delectable vinosity and complex architecture.

The dosage is moderate at around 6g/L.

The house of Bollinger produced only 3886 numbered bottles of this 2004 vintage.
